This park was created in 1970 and covers over 60 communes.
The Vercors forms a natural limestone fortress and provides a habitat for a large number of plant and animal species (marmots, ibex and vultures have been reintroduced in recent years).
The specific nature of the terrain, with lapies, caves, cirques and cliffs, make it ideal for rock-climbing, caving and hiking.
It includes France's largest nature reserve.
