Grand séchoir
Grand séchoir
Situated at the heart of Isère's walnut forests, this former walnut curing house is now home to a cultural centre devoted to the history of a people who over the years has made the name of Grenoble a synonym for quality walnuts.

The original beams of the curing house are still in place and lend the museum an authentic atmosphere. The exhibition includes traditional costumes, know-how and unusual tools.
The interactive terminals, videos and models explain the current state of the walnut industry. Visitors are encouraged to discover the myriad flavours drawn from walnuts. The exhibition also includes a study of local curing-house architecture. The Grand Séchoir is a perfect starting point for discovering the heritage and landscape of the region.

The visit continues into the grounds where the visitor can learn more about the aspects of growing and harvesting walnuts and walnut trees. Situated on the Isère Plains, opposite the foothills of the Vercors Plateau and upstream of the Les Chambaran Hills, Grand Séchoir Park gives the visitor the key to understanding the surrounding landscape.
Don't miss the "fabrique", a wood and glass building housing the wood chip boiler designed to make the most of renewable energies.
Finish off your day with a visit to the grand furniture exhibition put together by Grenoble's School of Architecture. Discover a stylized view of Walnut Country through the eyes of the students studying at the design workshop.
